It had been two days since the accident. The doctors said she was in a coma, in a place far far away. He knew only what his heart told him and it did not have any despair or sadness. It still rang with love for her. So he just spoke to her about his day and their friends, told her that he wanted her to speak and it was ridiculous that she was again resorting to the childish ruse of silence because she was angry. He slept in a chair, ate whenever somebody remembered to offer him something and kept on speaking.
The doctors came in at the end of the day and said that they would have to turn off the machines that were breathing for her. There was no way he could convince them that she lived. He watched when they did what they had to do and then he saw it – the proof that she was alive – the spike on the screen!!!
